The Pakistani Government has sensitized government officials to be cautious while they are using a range of mobile apps, on computers and mobile phones. This security measure is directed towards the leakage of sensitive data. This alert is directed particularly at whatsapp, the most frequently used app between government officials during daily communications. These actions include the sharing of files. The Interior Ministry briefed officials not to open link(s) which could initiate hacking events, open emails and downloading files from unknown sources.
Officials were informed that only highly ranked antivirus apps should be updated and even exclude Google Play, as a number of these apps are stored here, which could lead to data theft. These guidelines were issued to government departments on the same day Nawaz Sharif, ex-premier arrived for his appearance before the Pakistani courts.
