Toyota continues to contribute in supporting Indonesia’s human resource development program. One of them is in the context of facing industry challenges 4.0, PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) held Toyota Fun / Code, a competition for those who are interested and talented in the field of Information Technology (IT).
Themed “Fun, Futuristic, Informative”, participants of the competition were challenged to explore their creativity. To build applications that are able to provide added value to the public and the automotive industry, including Toyota.
Marketing Director of PT TAM, Anton Jimmi Suwandy stated, competence in the IT field is one of the main keys to one of them seizing business opportunities in the industrial era 4.0. So that Toyota Fun / Code challenges participants to test their abilities by building or creating applications that can add value to the automotive industry and customers.
“The main message of this activity is to challenge participants to explore their potential, to seize opportunities in the industrial era 4.0,” Anton said.
Explained, Toyota Fun / Code encourages and invites people to realize higher expectations in the industrial era 4.0. Which is marked by the rapid advancement of digital technology and the various disruptive wave challenges that follow.
Toyota Fun / Code will begin workshops in three cities, Yogyakarta, Bandung and Jakarta. The highlight of the event is Hackaton Day which will take place 24 hours a day in November.
“In one day individual and team participants will be tested for their abilities as IT Developers in producing applications according to the theme they choose,” Anton said.
He said, to become a reliable IT Developers, participants would be tested for their expertise in the fields of programmers, graphic designers, interface designers, and project managers. Competition participants are challenged to exert their potential in various fields so that the applications they develop can be completed in line with expectations.
“To design the application, participants can choose one of the sub-themes set by Toyota, namely Eco Driving, Education, Ownership Experience, Value Chain & Trade-in and Disability,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Executive General Manager of PT Toyota-Astra Motor, Fransiscus Soerjopranoto hopes, through various sub-themes in the Toyota Fun / Code activities, a superior application that will become an automotive business innovation can be born.
“Through this competition there will be start-ups to inspire other young people in facing the challenges of the industrial era 4.0,” he said.
The evaluation was conducted by a team of judges from TAM and start-up professionals and the technology industry. Among others, Vikra Ijas as the Chief Product Officer of Kitabisa.com, Norman Sasono as DANA’s Chief Technology Officer, and Alfred Boediman who is Managing Director of Samsung Research Indonesia. Announcement of winners in November with a total prize of IDR 100 million for the 3 best participants.
