Ministry of Communication and Informatics Suspects Data Hacking of Covid-19 Patients Circulating on Social Media

The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) is still investigating the alleged hacking of the Covid-19 patient database which has recently been circulating on social media.

The Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G Plate said that his party was coordinating with the National Siber and Sandi Agency which was responsible for Covid-19 data security in Indonesia.

“The Covid-19 database and cleansing results in the Kominfo data center are safe,” he said. Saturday (6/20/2020).
The Ministry of Communication and Information is also coordinating to conduct an evaluation of data centers in other ministries and institutions. Once known, the hacker is in the name of Database Shopping on the dark web RaidForums.

He sold a database of Covid-19 patients in Indonesia dated June 18, 2020. The hacker claimed that the data was taken during the May 20 burglary. Hackers also allegedly pocketed 230,000 data in MySQL format in upload on the dark site.

The site also last May included a hacker who sold Tokopedia trade platform user data. Even the party from Tokopedia confirmed the efforts to penetrate their security and defense. However, user data is ensured to remain safe
